'THE OFFICE OF LOST GESTURES' - JUNE 2009
10 JUNE 2009 - 19 june 2009: DUTCH ART INSTITUTE IN DUBLIN
In the academic year 2008-2009, If I Can't Dance... initiated, together with eleven art students of the Dutch Art Institute/Master Programme/ArtEZ Institute of the Arts, 'The Office of Lost Gestures', a 7-month programme in which artists, theorists and curators meet, work and think together on the topic of 'gesture' and 'masquerade'.
Collaborating with the artist Stefanie Seibold and the students of the MAVIS in Dublin, the project culminated in a ten-day performative art presentation in the LAB, a contemporary art space in Dublin.
The Dublin City Council established this municipal arts facility in 2005. It houses the Dublin City Council arts office, theatre rehearsal and workshop spaces and two floors of gallery space. The LAB is committed to supporting emerging artists and providing opportunities for first solo shows and to working with more established practitioners who are investigating new and diverse arts practices.
