'If I Can't Dance...' takes over the Van Abbemuseum for eighteen hours. From 17.00 on Friday 19 March to 11.00 on Saturday 20 March. For the 'From Dusk Till Dawn' event, If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part of Your Revolution will be taking over the 'Oudbouw' of the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven for the entire evening, night and morning of Friday 19 March to Saturday 20 March. For eighteen hours the Van Abbemuseum’s directors are transferring the museum’s management to the international If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution platform. 'From Dusk Till Dawn' is taking Masquerade as its theme and includes an exhibition, a performance programme and a series of lectures by twenty internationally renowned artists and thinkers, including Keren Cytter, Suchan Kinoshita, Joachim Koester, Peggy Phelan, Suely Rolnik & Lars Bang Larsen.

Van Abbemuseum achttien uur lang overgenomen door 'If I Can't Dance...' Van vrijdag 19 maart, 17.00 uur tot en met zaterdag 20 maart, 11.00 uur. Met het event 'From Dusk Till Dawn' zal If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part of Your Revolution de hele avond, nacht en ochtend van vrijdag 19 op zaterdag 20 maart de Oudbouw van het Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven overnemen. De directie van het Van Abbemuseum draagt voor een periode van achttien uur de leiding van het museum over aan het internationale platform If I Can' Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution. 'From Dusk Till Dawn' heeft als thema 'Maskerade' en omvat een tentoonstelling, een performanceprogramma en een serie lezingen met twintig internationaal bekende kunstenaars en denkers, onder wie Keren Cytter, Suchan Kinoshita, Joachim Koester, Peggy Phelan, Suely Rolnik & Lars Bang Larsen.

Een nieuwe editie van If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution komt eraan! De looptijd is augustus 2008 tot najaar 2009. De nieuwe, derde editie heeft als thema MASKERADE en wordt ontwikkeld in samenwerking met de kunstenaars Keren Cytter, Jon Mikel Euba, Olivier Foulon, Suchan Kinoshita, Joachim Koester en Sarah Pierce. De verkenning van het thema maskerade ligt in het verlengde van het eerdere onderzoek van If I Can’t Dance... naar het theatrale (Editie I, 2005) en de erfenis en het potentieel van het feminisme (Editie II, 2006-2007). download

In de komende aflevering van 'If I Can't Dance tonight' staat Ivana Müller centraal. Het thema dat in deze reeks wordt onderzocht - maskerade - was voor haar aanleiding om zich de vraag te stellen hoe waarheidsgetrouw, of juist geconstrueerd, de biografie van de kunstenaar is. Natuurlijk speelt in de manier waarop een biografie groeit en vorm krijgt de kunstenaar een belangrijke rol, maar ook de instituten die de kunstenaar representeren en de waardering van het werk door het publiek hebben daar invloed op. download

In 2006, de Appel formed a long-term partnership with If I Can't Dance, I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution, a travelling platform for performance-related practices in the visual arts. 'If I Can't Dance…', a famous statement attributed to the anarchist Emma Goldman, typifies the unique capacity of art to make political and critical statements about the world while also celebrating that same world. With this ongoing collaboration, de Appel refers indirectly to its own roots (1975-1983, under director Wies Smals) and to the fact that notions like 'the performative' and feminism continue to play an important part in de Appel's programme. download EN | NL
