EPISODE 1: PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME
Jon Mikel Euba, Re: horse
In 'Re: Horse' Jon Mikel Euba is addressing fundamental notions of performance such as the position of the stage and the audience and the relation between the script and its execution. It fuses elements of a live filming with the mistake-filled context of a rehearsal. Typified as a 'live concert of images', the performers are stimulated to find space for improvisation within the limits of the used script. The two central elements in the performance are a white horse, 'live' present in the space, and the projection of a legendary film recording made by Andy Warhol of a rehearsal of the Velvet Underground, made to be projected during the band's live concerts. It begins with an individual portrait of Nico that later on becomes a family portrait: that of the band. Once the police bursts into the space, the filming becomes a document that portraits the place, the Factory on that day, and the people present. READ MORE

Olivier Foulon, The Soliloquy of the Broom
Olivier Foulon’s project 'The Soliloquy of the Broom' focuses on the concept of masquerade in relation to painting. Central to this work is the portrait 'Jo, the Beautiful Irish Girl' painted by Gustave Courbet in 1865 in Trouville. It shows a lady named Jo, mistress and model of the artist James Whistler, looking at herself and her hair in a mirror. Due to great demand Gustave Courbet painted not only one painting but copied it several times. The four versions belong nowadays to the Metropolitan Museum, New York, the Nelson-Atkins Museum, Kansas City, the National Museum of Stockholm and to a private collector. Olivier Foulon brought the four paintings together with the help of 16mm film and visualizes not only early forms of mass production in art, but works with the concept of a model that is used as a template for a painting which itself then becomes the model for another painting. In this work, as well as the related lecture performance, Olivier Foulon's work shows arrangements through which art history can be renegotiated and interpreted anew. read more

Keren Cytter, History in the making
Keren Cytter's films unite different genres such as cinema, soap, home video and reality-tv. Everyday day life merges with absurdity, fiction merges with reality. Cytter portrays the relationships between people and shows the rift between the personality of her characters (often friends and acquaintances) and the part they have to play. Key to her movies is the friction between the personal environment and the world one lives in, a topic that also forms the basis for a new series of performances, which will find their way into several episodes of Cytter’s new film called 'History in the Making'. This piece will tell the story of a man who wanted to change his life. So he divorced his wife, and married another woman. After a while he noticed her face was changing and his face was changing too - drastically. As if it was the face of another man... The performance in OT 301 will form the basis of the third chapter of the film. READ MORE
